Water System Construction

Post Trip Plus 1 - We received the first photos today showing the start of construction on the water system. Our local contractor, Umesh hired an excavator to dig a 20 foot deep water collection well at the edge of the lowest rice terrace in the flood plain of the river. They will stack 42 concrete rings to build an approx. 1,700 gallon water collection tank. They will install our submersible pump, trench and lay electrical line to a hook-up in the home of the Water Committee's V.P. Then they will trench and lay 300 feet of pipe up the hill to a higher terrace where they will construct a 2,500 gallon water storage tank. After they test the system and calculate the amount of water that can be supplied they will lay water lines to the east and west sides of the village serving almost 1,000 people. We will update this blog entry with updates until the system is completed.
