Back to Kathmandu
We woke real early, packed, settled our bills, had a cup of coffee and then a worker from the hotel walked us down the street to
the airport. After we arrived, saw how things worked Jeff snuck out to the German bakery for a snack. As the 7:00AM flight left it
was our turn to navigate security. The airport was almost all travelers from India who come to Jomson to travel up to Muktinath
where is import Hindu and Buddhist temple. We made it through security all except the rocks in Jeff's backpack. He had to go
back out to the baggage area and deposit them into our checked bag. We made it to the waiting area and watched our plane
land. We lined up outside and boarded the 16 seat plane for a 19 minute ride to Pokura. Jeff had a seat on the left Cordella and
Rick sat on the right. The view was nice of the mountains and villages as we never go more than 1,000 feet higher than the
ground. It was a smooth flight and we landed in Pokura where Madhav and Sam, our driver, where waiting. We had buffet
breakfast at a nice restaurant at the Hungry Eye Hotel, and then we did a little shopping. We drove by a lake front resort area for
a quick look and then we started our 7hour drive back to Kathmandu. There was a lot of traffic coming from India and we saw a
few accidents. Like in the Florida Keys where it is a single lane highway, impatient people try to pass and cause accidents. We
had a very good safe driver so we although it was tense at times we felt safe. It started started to really get windy as we
approached Kathmandu. A storm was brewing, the sand and dust was chocking but we were comfortable in the car with the
windows rolled up. It rained a little which slowed traffic to a crawl as schools were letting out and the streets were full of
children. We made it back to the Kaze Darbar hotel, kissed the ground and had some tea. We paid our driver and thanked him
and then we went to our rooms. What a surprise it was that they upgraded us to larger rooms. We are very comfortable as we
make plans for the last push to finish our water project. Madhav met a friend and went out while Jeff, Rick and Cordella ate
dinner in the hotel and went to sleep early. |
